According to <a href="https://puckpedia.com/player/kasperi-kapanen?6862961c64b8d">PuckPedia</a>, the team has re-signed pending unrestricted free agent winger <a href="https://oilersnation.com/2025/05/16/a-look-at-how-oilers-kasperi-kapanen-went-from-waiver-wire-pickup-to-ot-playoff-hero/">Kasperi Kapanen</a> to a one-year, $1.3 million contract. The deal carries no trade protection.

It was an up-and-down campaign for <a href="https://oilersnation.com/2025/05/15/kasperi-kapanen-goes-from-healthy-scratch-to-playoff-hero-for-oilers/">Kapanen</a>, who would show well at times in the bottom-six and earn a look higher up the lineup, but couldn&#8217;t find the consistency in his game to remain there. With him on the ice at five-on-five, the Oilers controlled 51.7 percent of the shot attempt share, 50.1 percent of the scoring chance share, 52.8 percent of the high-danger scoring chances and 51.1 percent of the expected goal share. The Oilers, however, got heavily outscored 37-20 with very low on-ice shooting percentages and save percentages, with 6.9 percent and .863 percent, respectively.
