According to Jason Gregor, the Oilers will host the Flames in Edmonton on Friday, September 12, and then the two teams will play again in Calgary on Sunday, September 14. A few days later, on Wednesday, September 17, the Oilers will open training camp for the 2025-26 NHL season.

This home-and-home with Calgary will be the first opportunity to see a handful of young players suit up for the Oilers, including reigning Hobey Baker Award winner <a href="https://oilersnation.com/news/edmonton-oilers-summer-2025-prospect-countdown-2-isaac-howard">Isaac Howard</a>, who Edmonton acquired in a trade with the Tampa Bay Lightning earlier this summer. After scoring 52 points in 37 games for Michigan State University last season, the winger is looking to jump to the big-league level this fall.

Lafreniere scored 56 points in 68 games for the Kamloops Blazers last season, while Lewandowski put up 39 points in 52 games for the Saskatoon Blades in his first season playing in North America.
The Oilers will also open their pre-season against the Flames on Sunday, September 21, with split-squad games in Calgary and Edmonton.
