<p>The slash Darnell Nurse laid to the foot of Dallas Stars centre Roope Hintz in Game 2 of the Western Conference Final broke his foot.</p>

<p>Hintz confirmed the injury on Saturday.</p>
<p>“So, there was a fracture, or a crack, however you call it,” Hintz told Stars reporter <a href="https://www.starsthoughts.com/p/dallas-stars-media-day-interviews">Robert Tiffin</a>. “So it was pretty painful. I tried to go in Game 3, but I couldn’t. Then we find a way that I was able to play in Game 4.”</p>

<p>The incident happened early in the third period when the <a href="http://oilersnation.com/combinations">Edmonton Oilers</a> defenceman and Hintz were battling in front of the Oilers net. Nurse was on the receiving end of a crosscheck in the back from Hintz, responding with a slash that caught him on the foot.</p>
<p>Hintz hit the ice hard, needing to be helped off the ice, as Nurse was initially assessed a five-minute major for slashing. A quick review, however, reduced it to a two-minute call.</p>
<p>After the game, Stars head coach Pete DeBoer was <a href="https://oilersnation.com/news/stars-upset-about-darnell-nurse-slash-roope-hintz-five-minute-major-if-connor-mcdavid-gets-carried-off-ice-like-that?utm_source=dlvr.it&amp;utm_medium=twitter">none too pleased about it</a>.</p>
<p>“Does anyone in this room think that if Connor McDavid gets carried off the ice like that, that it’s not a five-minute major? Again, if that’s 97 carried off the ice in the same situation, I think we all know the answer to what that looks like for us.&#8221;</p>
<p>While Hintz missed Game 3, he returned for Game 4, only to find Oilers players — namely Evan Bouchard — <a href="https://oilersnation.com/news/you-dont-see-that-much-outside-of-junior-hockey-dallas-stars-pete-deboer-edmonton-oilers-evan-bouchards-slash-roope-hintz">taking aim at his injured foot</a>. as the Oilers defenceman caught him with a slash.</p>
